39th match, RCB vs RR, IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals won by 29 runs
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) won by 29 runs over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, continuing their winning streak in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Rajasthan Royals won by 29 runs and moved to the top of the table because to Riyan Parag's undefeated 56*(31) and Kuldeep Sen's superb four-wicket haul.
RCB lost an early wicket while chasing 145 when Virat Kohli was caught inside the circle by Prasidh Krishna's bowling. RCB were 37/1 at the end of the powerplay after skipper Faf du Plessis sat cautiously at the start before smashing three fours and a six. In the seventh over, Kuldeep Sen took two wickets in two deliveries, dismissing du Plessis and Maxwell. Maxwell sliced the ball straight to slips as the RCB skipper was caught at covers.
The innings was stabilised by Shahbaz Ahmed and Rajat Patidar when Ashwin bamboozled Patidar in the 10th over and uprooted the off-stump. In the 12th over, Prabhudessai failed to clear the ropes, and Ashwin took his second wicket. Dinesh Karthik fell short of the crease and was run-out for six runs, putting RCB in serious difficulty. After Riyan Parag took a brilliant running catch, Ashwin picked up his third wicket of the day to eliminate Shahbaz Ahmed.
Kuldeep Sen and Prasidh Krishna both took a wicket, and RCB needed 30 runs off the last over. Kuldeep picked up his fourth wicket of the innings, dismissing Harshal Patel, the final RCB hitter.
RR, who were given the opportunity to bat first, made two changes to their lineup: Daryl Mitchell and Kuldeep Sen were named in the eleven. Devdutt Padikkal hit the game's first six off Mohammed Siraj's bowling, but the pacer got the last laugh when Padikkal was caught LBW in the second over. Ravi Ashwin, who had been moved to the top of the order, got off to a flying start with four fours before Siraj grabbed a catch off his own bowling to dismiss the all-rounder.
The important wicket of Buttler was taken by Josh Hazlewood, who was caught at mid-on, and RR were 43-3 at the end of the powerplay. In the eighth over, Skipper Samson went for broke and smashed two sixes. After Samson missed the reverse-sweep and the ball crashed into the stumps, Hasaranga ended the RR captain's innings. In the 11th over, Riyan Parag joined Daryl Mitchell in the middle and smashed a six right down the ground. In the 15th over, RR passed the 100-run mark.
Both Daryl Mitchell and Shimron Hetmyer were caught in the deep by Hazlewood and Hasaranga, who caused more damage with the ball. Trent Boult was dismissed by Virat Kohli with a brilliant catch in the 18th over, while Prasidh Krishna was run-out by Prabhudessai. RR recorded 144-8 at the end of 20 overs, with Parag reaching his half-century off 29 deliveries and wrapping up the innings with a six.
Scores: Rajasthan Royals 144/8 (Riyan Parag 56*, Sanju Samson 27; Josh Hazlewood 2-19) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 115 all out (Faf du Plessis 23, Wanindu Hasaranga 18; Kuldeep Sen 4-20) by 29 runs.
