West Indies Squad Update: Key Players Return, Alzarri Joseph Replaced
Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell and Akeal Hosein, who missed the Sri Lanka T20I series last month, have all been included in the West Indies squad for the first two T20Is against England set to begin from November 9. However, fast-bowler Alzarri Joseph who is on suspension, has been replaced by Matthew Forde.
Meanwhile, Fabian Allen, Alick Athanaze, Andre Fletcher and Shamar Springer have been dropped from the squad following the inclusion of the four senior players. The team has also been affected by an incident involving Joseph who received a two-match suspension after showing discontent towards ODI captain Shai Hope over the field set for him during the third ODI against England. Matthew Forde, who takes Joseph's spot, had an impressive performance in the ODIs against England, claiming eight wickets at an average of 16.38.
The West Indies' batting unit for the upcoming series will consist of Shai Hope, Pooran, Hetmyer, Brandon King, Evin Lewis and captain Rovman Powell. All-rounders Russell, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd and Sherfane Rutherford will add depth to the batting line-up. Shamar Joseph, Terrance Hinds and Forde make up the pace bowling unit, whereas Hosein and Gudakesh Motie will be the spinners in the squad.
