Match 28: Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 7 wickets

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their fourth consecutive match in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 7 wickets. In the first innings, Umran Malik's outstanding bowling stats of 4-28 restricted PBKS to 151 before SRH chased down the goal with 7 balls to spare. SRH openers Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma got off to a cautious start while chasing 152. In the third over, SRH skipper Williamson was caught within the circle for three runs by Rabada's bowling. Tripathi made a strong start and smashed three fours. SRH were 39-1 after 6 overs when Abhishek Sharma finished the powerplay with a four.

In his first over, Rahul Chahar gave up 12 runs, with Tripathi adding a four and a six each. Chahar retaliated by taking the wicket of the dangerous Tripathi. SRH were 74-2 at the midway mark when Abhishek Sharma hit a six over long-on. The left-handed hitter, though, was dismissed in the next over, holed out to long-on against Rahul Chahar, who took his second wicket. As SRH needed 31 runs in 24 balls, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram created a solid connection.

As SRH required 13 off 12 deliveries, Pooran and Markram crossed the fifty partnership mark. SRH won the game with 7 deliveries to spare when Markram finished up the chase with a four and a six. In the absence of Mayank Agarwal, PBKS were asked to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan led the side. Dhawan was caught at mid-on off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's bowling, and PBKS lost his wicket early. Jitesh Sharma struck two fours in the fifth over but was caught behind. SRH were 48-2 at the end of the powerplay when Liam Livingstone counter-attacked with two fours and a six against Jansen.

Jonny Bairstow was caught LBW by Jagadeesha Suchith, giving SRH their third wicket. In the next over, Jitesh Sharma hit two fours off Umran Malik, but the bowler bounced back and collected a catch off his own bowling. PBKS were 70-4 at half-time when Livingstone finished the 10th over with a tremendous six. As the two batters hammered huge sixes against the SRH spinners, Shahrukh Khan and Livingstone forged a rapid 50 partnership. Livingstone celebrated his half-century with a four in the 15th over. Shahrukh's batting was brought to an end by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took his second wicket of the session and broke the dangerous partnership.

Livingstone was dismissed for 60 in the penultimate over before Umran Malik got three wickets and did not give a single run with his quick bowling. PBKS were all out for 151 after Arshdeep Singh was run-out on the penultimate pitch of the innings.

Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 152-3 (Aiden Markram 41*, Nicholas Pooran 35*; Rahul Chahar 2-28) beat Punjab Kings 151 all out (Liam Livingstone 60, Shahrukh Khan 26; Umran Malik 4-28) by 7 wickets.

Match 29: Gujarat Titans won by 3 wickets

The Gujarat Titans (GT) held their nerve to win a last-ball thriller in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Sunday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 3 wickets. Gujarat Titans won in a thrilling last-ball finish thanks to David Miller's (94*) magnificent knock, which was expertly supported by Rashid Khan's quickfire 40. Gujarat Titans lost three wickets in the powerplay while chasing 170 to win, and CSK bowlers were on top of their game. Shubman Gill, the right-handed hitter, was caught at point off Mukesh Choudhary's bowling on the first ball he faced.

As GT were 37-3 at the end of powerplay, Maheesh Theekshana took the wickets of Vijay Shankar and Abhinav Manohar. After being caught at deep square leg, Wriddhiman Saha was the next batsman to be dismissed. With Rahul Tewatia and David Miller at the crease, GT were 58-4 at the conclusion of 10 overs. Miller took on the CSK captain and smashed two sixes and a four in the 12th over as 19 runs were scored. After Tewatia was caught in mid-off by Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo broke the partnership. Miller, on the other hand, kept wreaking havoc with the bat, hitting two sixes to bring GT closer.

With 48 runs needed off the final three overs, skipper Rashid Khan jumped on board, hitting three sixes and a four off Chris Jordan in the 18th - for 25 runs. In the penultimate over, Dwayne Bravo took two wickets on consecutive deliveries as GT needed 13 runs off the final over. With a four and a six in the final over, David Miller held his composure and remained unbeaten on 94 to get GT over the line. CSK, who were put in to bat first, lost Robin Uthappa's wicket early in the innings after Mohammad Shami trapped the right-handed hitter LBW. Ruturaj Gaikwad, on the other hand, got off to a strong start, hitting three fours and two sixes.

CSK, on the other hand, lost their second wicket in the powerplay when Moeen Ali pulled one on to Alzarri Joseph's stumps. CSK led 66-2 at halftime as Ambati Rayudu and Ruturaj Gaikwad joined Ruturaj Gaikwad in the middle. After Gaikwad and Rayudu each hit a six against Alzarri Joseph, the 11th over produced 15 runs. The next over was much better for CSK, as Gaikwad scored fifty with a free hit for six and Rayudu hammered two fours off Yash Dayal's bowling.

CSK's limits kept flowing as their fifty-year collaboration came to an end. Alzarri Joseph bowled Ambati Rayudu for a critical wicket to stop the threatening partnership. The next two overs yielded only 10 runs, and CSK lost Gaikwad's wicket for 73 runs as the right-handed batter was caught in the deep. With tight overs, GT drew things back, but CSK skipper Jadeja closed the innings with two sixes as CSK recorded 169-5 in the first innings.

Scores: Chennai Super Kings 169-5 (Ruturaj Gaikwad 73, Ambati Rayudu 46; Alzarri Joseph 2-34) beat Gujarat Titans 170-7 (David Miller 94*, Rashid Khan 40; Dwayne Bravo 3-23) by 3 wickets.
