South Africa won by 7 wickets, 2nd ODI

Here we go again…! South Africa won the 2nd ODI at Paarl and outperformed India by 7 wickets and took series 2-0, on Friday 21st January.

KL Rahul won the toss for the second time, and the Men in Blue chose to bat first this time after an unimpressive chase in the first ODI. Sisanda Magala, who replaced the tired Marco Jansen, got the guests off to a flying start, with them reaching 50 in the ninth over without losing a wicket.

Aiden Markram's off-spin, like in the first ODI, caused the damage, as the part-timer sent Dhawan down to the hut thanks to a brilliant catch from Magala. Kohli was out for a 5-ball duck after putting a Maharaj ball unconvincingly to the short additional cover fielder.

Two overs later, the Proteas fumbled the simplest of opportunities to run out KL Rahul, and things could have been much worse. And the wasted opportunity cost Rahul dearly, as he would go on to share a magnificent 115-run 3rd wicket stand with Rishabh Pant.

1 ODI left and let’s hope India can make it to the winning part!
