1st ODI: South Africa beats India by 31 runs

India's unexplained middle-order collapse meant that superb half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli didn't matter as the squad was defeated by a resolute South Africa by 31 runs in the first One-Day International here on Wednesday, 19 January.

Chasing a difficult total of 297, India was sailing at 138 for one before wickets dropped in a heap in the three-match series, which they trail 0-1 in. India's innings came to a close with a score of 265 for eight.

Temba Bavuma (110 off 143) and Rassie van der Dussen (129 not out off 96) both struck hundreds en way to a 204-run stand that helped South Africa reach 296 for four after electing to bat.

When Kohli (51 off 63) and Dhawan (79 off 84) were in the middle, India appeared to be in good shape to win, but their 92-run effort came tumbling down.

2nd ODI is scheduled on 21 January. Let’s see how it goes! 2 ODIs to go for India to wake up and make a history once again after winning 1st Test!
