An excuse from Lukaku for “unhappy” comments
Premier League: Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku said he was “sorry” after saying he was “not happy” playing at the club under the Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel joined Chelsea FC as a coach in Janury 2021. He took over as manager from Frank Lampard and became the first German to do so. During his time in Paris, Chelsea won four trophies and reached the Champions League final. In his first 50 games, Tuchel has won 32 matches, drawn 11 and lost just seven games.
Recent conflict between Lukaku and Tuchel has created a bit of an anger among the fanbase.
Chelsea's £97.5 million striker reported to Sky in Italy earlier this month he was "not very happy" with his situation at Chelsea and complained of Chelsea’s manager - Tuchel's decision to play a "different formation". Lukaku joined Chelsea only in August 2021, leaving Inter because of his ‘affection’ to Chelsea.
The German was perplexed by Romelu Lukaku's explosive interview. Chelsea's £97.5 million striker expressed his dissatisfaction with Stamford Bridge to Italian media last week, only months after coming from Inter.
Later on, 5 January, 2022 Lukaku issued formal apology:
"To the fans I'm sorry for the upset that I've caused," Lukaku told Chelsea's website.
"Obviously it's up to me now to restore your trust, and I'll do my best every day to show commitment on the training ground and in games to make sure we win games. And also, to the manager, my team-mates and the board, I apologise, because I think it was not the right moment, also. And I want to move forward from this and make sure that we start winning football games and make sure that I start performing for the team in the best manner," Lukaku added.
