Varane reveals his mantra
One of the world’s best defenders over the last decade, Raphael Varane, that joined MU not long ago, reveals his mantra that supported him throughout his career in reaching the peak of the field.
In an exclusive wide-ranging interview with the latest edition of Inside United, the World Cup winner reveals that overcoming difficulties in his early days in France while trying to get into the game was tough.
There were some challenging times when he went to boarding school but he, demonstrated the endurance and character that eventually led him to a world-class defender.
“Yeah, it was not easy for me. I was very busy and tired but, always, school was very important and obviously football too. So it was difficult to do both things but my mum and my dad wanted to help me, to push me to help me to both things. I think it’s a good school – to learn to fight and to be strong and, mentally, never give up."
The 28-year-old stated that he has a mantra that he uses to help him deal with challenges that he once learned at Pole-Espoirs, the French Football Federation's development center.
A direct translation into English is: 'To fall is allowed, to rise is mandatory.'
That’s really inspiring!
