Rashid Khan, Pandya & Subman Gill to join Ahmedabad franchise

Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill are to be the part of Ahmedabad franchise in the upcoming IPL this year.

CVC Capital Partners, who purchased the Ahmedabad franchise last October, has also finalised its coaching team, which will be managed by former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra and former South Africa batter and head coach Gary Kirsten. The team director will be former England batter Vikram Solanki, who is presently the head coach of Surrey.

Important to mention that the combination of Nehra, Kirsten, and Solanki will work together for the second time in the IPL; the first time was with RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore).

The two new teams in the IPL, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, have yet to reveal the players they have acquired, but the deadline is almost there - January 22.  Both teams will receive the same INR 90 crore prize pool as the the rest of franchises. Unlike the other clubs, who can keep four players, the new ones can only buy 3, with the overseas slot being limited to one.

While the IPL has set fees of INR 15 crore, INR 11 crore, and INR 7 crore for franchises keeping 3 players; Ahmedabad has opted to pay Pandya and Khan the same fee of INR 15 crore. Hardik Pandya is also expected to be a captain, which will be his first time in the IPL for the allrounder. Gill, the third player, will receive INR 7 crore; this will be his second team in IPL, before he was picked by KKR in 2018 for 1.8 crore.
