"Don't You Want Me To Bowl?": Axar Patel's Question Tears Ravindra Jadeja Apart in India vs. Australia

About

The recovery of Ravindra Jadeja following a protracted injury layoff is improving every day. The left-arm spinner led Australia to a crushing defeat by six wickets in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead in the test series. He returned with career-best figures of 7/42. After Australia's batting collapsed due to an overdone sweep shot on a difficult New Delhi wicket in the morning session, Jadeja and fellow spinner Ravichandran Ashwin helped remove the tourists for 113 runs.

On Sunday, Jadeja bowled 12.1 overs and claimed 7 wickets in the second innings. In his 16 overs of bowling, Ashwin claimed three wickets. Due to the duo's dominance, Axar Patel, the third Indian spinner, only bowled one over. Axar and Jadeja had an enjoyable conversation about that once the game was over.

What they said

"I won't have the opportunity to bowl, sir. Do you really not want me to bowl? Is that the cause of your impressive bowling?" In a video that was uploaded on bcci.tv, Axar Patel explained to Ravindra Jadeja as the two started to chuckle.

"It feels fantastic if the pitch is like this in India. The responsibilities and job of a spinner expand. Because of their batting style, they favour sweeps and reverse-sweeps. I therefore attempted to bowl at the stumps. The deliveries that stayed low would smash the stumps if they failed to catch it. Fortunately, that occurred today. We clearly heard the ball hit the stumps in five of the dismissals."

Overview

The Border-Gavaskar trophy will remain with the hosts after the four-match series after they romped to their win target of 115 in the second session. They've defeated Australia in their last three series, and they're on the verge of earning a position in the World Test Championship final.
