2022 TNPL

     The sixth edition of the TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League) will take place from June 23, 2022, to July 31, 2022. Since its start in 2016, the TNPL has been hosted every year, with the exception of 2020, when it was cancelled because to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

History of the TNPL

     The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) was founded in 2016 by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to promote local talent on a larger scale. The Tuti Patriots won the first edition of the TNPL, while Chepauk Super Gillies won the second, fourth, and sixth editions. The Siechem Madurai Panthers won the third edition of the TNPL.

Format of the Tamil Nadu Premier League

     The TNPL 2022 will include 32 matches spread out over 39 days. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is hosting the competition, which will include eight teams. Each of the eight teams will play every other team in the tournament in a round-robin style. The playoffs will be held for the top four clubs in the standings.

     The top two teams will meet in Qualifier 1 on July 26, 2022, with the winner progressing to the Final. The third and fourth-placed teams will compete in the Eliminator on July 27, 2022. The winner of the Eliminator will meet the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 on July 29, 2022. On July 31, 2022, the winner of Qualifier 2 will meet the winner of Qualifier 1.

Prize money for TNPL 2022

The winner of the Tamil Nadu Premier League will be awarded INR 1 crore in cash. The prize money is shared amongst the teams as follows:

Champions – ₹1 crore (US$130,000)

Runner up – ₹60 lakh (US$79,000)

Two semi-finalists – ₹40 lakh (US$52,000) each

Remaining participants – ₹25 lakh (US$33,000)

In the year 2022, who would win the Tamil Nadu Premier League?

     The Lyca Kovai Kings have yet to reach the final of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, although they have been one of the tournament's most consistent performances. The Kings, captained by Abhinav Mukund, have a number of excellent players in their line-up, and we anticipate them to finish in the top four once more. The first two seasons of the event were dominated by the Chepauk Super Gillies and Tuti Patriots. Last season, the previous champions finished in the bottom part of the table, but they should be able to advance farther this season.

     The Madurai Panthers are the incumbent winners of the TNPL 2022, but their batting over-reliance on Arun Karthik will be a major problem in their effort to retain the trophy. Dindigul Dragons have also been quite impressive, with the exception of the 2017 season, and they will be captained by Ravichandran Ashwin, a capable skipper. The Dragons came so close to winning the championship the last time around.

     The Most Successful Team in the Tamil Nadu Premier League in 2022, The Chepauk Super Gillies are one of the league's most successful teams. In all, the squad has finished in first place in the league three times.

     Metronation Chennai Television Private Limited is the club's parent company. The M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, India, serves as the league's home venue. Kaushik Gandhi is the team's captain, while Heman Badani is the team's coach.

     The Dindigul Dragons have also been remarkable, coming so close to winning the championship the last time around. In 2022, the Dindigul Dragons are the favourites to win the Tamil Nadu Premier League in 2022.
