Rohit Sharma reveals that Ishan Kishan would bat in a different position in the ODIs against New Zealand

About

Ishan Kishan, who skipped Sri Lanka's one-day international series against Bangladesh despite making a double century in his previous ODI innings, would be inserted into the middle order for India's first ODI against New Zealand on Wednesday, according to India captain Rohit Sharma on Tuesday. He remarked, "I'm delighted Kishan could get a run here after that magnificent knock in Bangladesh. Kishan will be batting in the middle order.

What they said

In order to address that issue, Shardul Thakur was recalled to the team, according to Rohit, but the team still needs to improve in this area before the World Cup.

In response to a question about using seven batsmen and four specialist bowlers, Rohit stated, "I don't want to compromise on anything honestly."

"After a long day, you want to play your best eleven. Someone who can bat at numbers eight and nine will be a challenge for us. Shardul can provide us that edge at number eight, which is why we brought him in," Rohit stated.

Overview

After Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma, Ishan became the fourth Indian to score a double century in an ODI. In the final ODI against Bangladesh, the wicketkeeper-batter struck 210 from 131 balls to achieve the feat.

Ishan didn't play in any of the ODIs, which was highly criticised by both fans and pundits at the start of the Sri Lanka ODI series despite the electrifying performance. It will be intriguing to observe how India reorganises their batting order now that Ishan has been given a new batting position. Ishan is likely to bat in place of Shreyas Iyer, who is expected to miss the game owing to a back ailment.
