ISL 2024-25 Matchweek 3 Highlights: Punjab FC Tops the Table

ISL 2024-25 has been entered into its third matchweek and Punjab FC have seized the top position in the league table after their victory over Hyderabad FC. Keeping their record intact after three matches, Punjab FC has kicked off matchweek 3 confidently with a perfect start. Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC, and Chennaiyin FC also register victories, in sharp opposition to Hyderabad FC who languish at the bottom after consecutive losses. Punjab FC became only the fourth ISL club to start the season with three consecutive victories, joining Mohun Bagan, who have achieved this feat twice previously, and FC Goa. 

The match between Punjab FC and Hyderabad FC saw Hyderabad's coach Thangboi Singto fielding a starting lineup with 10 Indian players, who unfortunately failed to keep pace with their opposition. Pulga Vidal of Punjab FC broke through in the 35th minute with the game's first goal. The second half saw Punjab FC maintaining their lead and eventually sealing their victory with a brilliant counter-attack in the 71st minute, led by Filip Mrzljak. Leander D'Cunha's expulsion in the 78th-minute marked the end of the contest with Punjab FC holding on for the win even while down to 10 players.
