India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test: India won by 238 runs

On Monday, India swept the series 2-0 after a bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah helped India thrash Sri Lanka by 238 runs in three days at Bangalore's pink-ball Test. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 208 in the second session, chasing 447 for win, despite skipper Dimuth Karunaratne's brave 107 on a pitch that had changed from day one.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah terminated Karunaratne's tenure and added another wicket to his match count of eight, while spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claimed four wickets on the day. In India's 303-9 declaration on day two, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant hit 67 and 50 runs, respectively, to play vital roles in an overwhelming victory that left the hosts unbeaten in all three of their home day-night Tests.

India also won the first Test in three days, giving new all-round skipper Rohit Sharma a successful start to his Test leadership. Left-handed Karunaratne put on a 97-run second-wicket stand with Ashwin before the captain's overnight companion Kusal Mendis was stumped for his 12th Test half-century.

Karunaratne, on the other hand, went on to fight alone, scoring a century off Bumrah, the only century for a Sri Lankan batsman in this Test series. After Shreays Iyer scored 92 and pushed India from a shaky 86-4 to 252 all out, India stayed dominant from day one, gaining valuable Test championship points.

Bumrah then took 5-24 for his first five-wicket haul at home, dismissing Sri Lanka for 109 runs. The series will be remembered for Virat Kohli's 100th Test, which he played in the first game in Mohali, despite the fact that the star batsman only scored 45, 23, and 13 runs in the three Indian innings.

The former skipper was bowled twice in this Test, dropping his average below 50 for the first time since 2017, but the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium crowd cheered him on. Suranga Lakmal, a Sri Lankan fast bowler, grabbed one wicket in his final Test and concluded his career with 171 wickets in 70 five-day matches since his debut in 2010.

Bumrah, who joined India's lineup in a rush to bid farewell to the 35-year-old veteran, bowled Lakmal for one run. After losing the prior T20 series 3-0, the tourists experienced a total whitewash after losing the first Test by an innings and 222 runs. The Indian Premier League, which kicks off on March 26, will bring together players from India and around the world.
