A Former Batter's Prominent Remark Regarding India's Starting XI for the T20 World Cup: "It Will Depend On How..."

About

Jasprit Bumrah's successor for the 2022 T20 World Cup was revealed by the BCCI on Friday. Mohammed Shami will fill the vacancy, allowing India's 15-member squad to maintain its current level of four full-time fast bowlers. Former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa believes that Shami and Arshdeep Singh will definitely make the starting XI, and that Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel may be a toss-up if India chooses to field three pure pacers.

What they said

When questioned about India's ideal fast bowling lineup, Uthappa gave his opinion.

"Due to the presence of Hardik Pandya, it will depend on how many fast bowlers they plan to field. I would choose Shami and Arshdeep Singh. In my opinion, What you want to do will likely be decided by Harshal Patel and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar)," Uthappa spoke with ESPNCricinfo in a discussion.

"Who will finally fit into that fast bowling line-up will depend, in my opinion, on the current form. Who gets to play in the XI will be heavily influenced by how these fast bowlers perform in those next two practice matches," the former Indian batter Uthappa stated.

Overview

On October 23, India will play their opening T20 World Cup encounter against Pakistan. India will play two exhibition games against Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and 19, respectively.

Uthappa believes that India's fast bowlers' performance in the two exhibition games will play a significant role in their selection for the starting XI during the T20 World Cup final.
