Match Review

On Thursday, September 1, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played in the 5th match of the Asia Cup, 2022.

How perfect! In cricket, sadly, only one can advance, and Sri Lanka will rely on Bangladesh's careless bowling to cross the finish line. Ebadot and Taskin, two Bangladeshi pacers, plagued Sri Lanka's top order, which was reduced to 77/4 after nine overs. But the first player Kusal Mendis and captain Dasun Shanaka spearheaded a comeback.

Sri Lanka displayed the best kind of strategic aggression by maintaining their lead despite losing wickets. Ebadot, who on his debut took three wickets in each of his first two overs, gave up 22 runs in his third over, which effectively gave the game away. Although the fielding of Bangladesh was excellent, holding on to difficult catches to dismiss Mendis and Shanaka in the dying stages, the chasing team discovered another hero in Chamika Karunaratne.

Brief Score

Bangladesh have scored 183 for 7 in 20 overs (Sabbir Rahman 5, Mosaddek Hossain 24, Shakib Al Hasan 24, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk) 4, Mahmudullah 27, Mehidy Hasan Miraz 38, Afif Hossain 39, Mahedi Hasan 1, Taskin Ahmed 11, Extras 10)

Sri Lanka have scored 184 for 8 in 19.2 overs (Danushka Gunathilaka 11, Pathum Nissanka 20, Kusal Mendis (wk) 60, Charith Asalanka 1, Bhanuka Rajapaksa 2, Dasun Shanaka 45, Wanindu Hasaranga 2, Chamika Karunaratne 16, Maheesh Theekshana 0, Asitha Fernando 10, Extras 17)

Who is the Winner?

Sri Lanka won by 2 wickets with 184/8 score in 19.2 overs.
