Australia takes the lead in ICC Test rankings
Following an overwhelming 4-0 Ashes series victory over England, Australia has surpassed both New Zealand and India to take the top spot in the ICC Test rankings. The Pat Cummins-led side has 119 ranking points after victories in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Hobart.
England avoided a whitewash by holding on to a tight draw in Sydney. Cummins was in charge of Australia for the first time after Tim Paine resigned before the start of the series.
India, on the other side, fell to 3rd place with 116 points after losing 2-1 against South Africa. New Zealand, which fought back to tie the series 1-1 at home vs Bangladesh, has 117 points and is second in the standings, ahead of India.
Australia has also climbed to second 2nd place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), having gained 86.66 percent of total points. Only Sri Lanka, which has an ideal record, is now ahead of them.
