65th match, MI vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 3 runs

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their sixth TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match on Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, defeating the Mumbai Indians (MI) by three runs. SRH reached 193/6 thanks to Rahul Tripathi's scorching 76(44), before Bhuvneshwar Kumar's magnificent wicket-maiden last over clinched a three-run triumph. MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got off to a great start in pursuit of 194 runs as the MI captain hit three sixes during the powerplay. With four fours, Kishan complemented the MI skipper nicely, and MI were 51/0 after six overs.

MI were cruising at 89/0 at the midway stage after conceding 17 runs in Umran Malik's 9th over. After Rohit holed out to the deep, Washington Sundar gave the first breakthrough for SRH. After Umran Malik dimissed Kishan in the second over of his stint, both set batsmen were removed. Tilak Varma and Daniel Sams were also back in the hut when Malik got two more wickets in the 15th over, reducing the equation to 67 off 30.

Tristan Stubbs was run out in the 17th over, but Tim David kept MI's chase hopes alive by requiring 45 runs from 18 deliveries. In the 18th over, David hit four sixes but was run-out on the final delivery. After Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an excellent wicket-maiden penultimate over, SRH successfully defended the goal and won by three runs.

Priyam Garg and Fazal Farooqi were named in the eleven for SRH, who were given the opportunity to bat first. MI had Abhishek Sharma caught by Markande early in the innings after the opener miscued a shot. With two fours, Rahul Tripathi was off and running. SRH were 57/1 at the end of the powerplay after both Tripathi and Garg bowled sixes. The duo's fifty-run partnership was finished after Sanjay Yadav's 8th over delivered 15 runs. Ramandeep Singh ended the dangerous 78-run partnership by dismissing Garg with a catch off his own bowling.

Pooran, who smashed successive sixes against Riley Meredith, joined Tripathi in keeping the runs coming. SRH were 148/2 after 15 overs, with Tripathi reaching his third half-century of the season and the fifty partnership up for the third wicket. Pooran was caught by Markande, who made a superb catch in the outfield, and Meredith was able to dismiss him for 38 runs. In the 18th over, Ramandeep Singh took two more wickets, dismissing Tripathi and Markram. SRH concluded with a first innings total of 193/6 after Bumrah castled Sundar on the penultimate delivery.

Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 193/6 (Rahul Tripathi 76, Priyam Garg 42; Ramandeep Singh 3-20) beat Mumbai Indians 190/7 (Rohit Sharma 48, Tim David 46; Umran Malik 3-23) by 3 runs.
