India Vs Prime Ministers XI: Practice Match Results
After facing rain interruptions, India's practice match against the Prime Minsters XI commenced on the second day. The game was cut short to 46 overs per side due to weather constraints. In their bowling innings, India successfully curbed the hosts at 138/7, with Harshit Rana claiming four wickets. However, teenager Sam Konstas opened the innings with a remarkable century, backed by a rapid 61 by Hanno Jacobs from the lower order.
On India's side, bowlers Harshit Rana, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep, and Prasidh Krishna managed to play at least six overs with the pink ball. Spinners Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja also successfully took more than five overs each, albeit a bit expensive. In the end, India managed to bowl out the PM's XI for 240 runs.
In the batting innings, India stayed with their successful opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, even as Rohit Sharma returned to the squad. Jaiswal and Rahul got some practical experience against the pink ball, with Rahul retiring to let Shubman Gill, who missed the first Test due to injury, get some practice. Gill seized the chance, scoring a half-century. However, skipper Rohit, now in the middle order, was dismissed cheaply.
Indian all-rounders Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar had a significant impact, both scoring quickfire forties, and India finished their overs with a score of 257. Hence, India led the match by securing a substantial total against the PM's XI. Brief Scores stood with PM's XI at 240 (Sam Konstas 107, Hanno Jacobs 61; Harshit Rana 4-44) against India’s 257/5 (Shubman Gill 50, Yashasvi Jaiswal 45).
