Afghanistan Cricket Squad Ready for Zimbabwe Tour: Return of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Fresh Faces
Afghanistan's cricket team is looking strong for its upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, with key players set to make impactful returns. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the frontline spinner, is back after recovering from a right phalanx sprain, providing a significant boost to the squad's bowling contingent. His return is complemented by the selection of talented newcomer Zubaid Akbari and Darwish Rasooli's comeback in T20I.
Zubaid Akbari, a gifted young top order batter, is all set for his national squad debut in the T20I series, owing to his impressive form in domestic cricket and contribution to Afghanistan's successful Emerging Asia Cup campaign. Meanwhile, Darwish Rasooli, who captained the team in the Emerging Asia Cup, makes a return to the T20I setup, thanks to his impressive domestic form.
Ibrahim Zadran, however, will remain absent as he recovers from ankle surgery.
The ACB Interim Chief Selector, Ahmad Shah, voiced his felicity over having Mujeeb back and the inclusion of new talented players. He was also positive about Afghanistan's showing in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup.
The tour, commencing on December 11, will begin with a three-match T20I series, followed by three ODIs. Post the white-ball matches in Harare, two teams will lock horns in two Tests in Bulawayo.
The squads for both T20I and ODI are packed with seasoned professionals and fresh faces, promising an engaging and competitive series.
