Riyan Parag of the Rajasthan Royals claims that MS Dhoni is incomparable to anyone else as a finisher.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings, has mastered the role of a finisher, according to Rajasthan Royals' Riyan Parag, and no one even comes close. The Guwahati-born player, 21, said that while he is content playing the finisher position in the IPL this year, he would prefer to bat at position No. 4 if given the chance.
What they said
"I would choose position No. 4 if the Royals were to ask me where I wanted to bat. But as always, I'm willing to play wherever the team needs me and thinks I'll fit in best. It's a team game, therefore I'm happy to contribute in any manner the combinations work out," Parag told PTI.
"For the past three years, I have been performing the finishing role. There is only one name that comes to mind, MS Dhoni, whom I have already mentioned. Nobody else, in my opinion, has perfected that skill. I always look up to him when I play that role because of how he takes games deep or finishes them," Parag said.
After an essentially unsatisfying run in the T20 competition in the previous four editions, Parag is confident of a solid performance in the IPL on the strength of an excellent domestic season for Assam. In 17 games last season, he scored 183 runs at an average of 16.64, however, he only reached a half-century once in the IPL.
In addition, Parag said he has been working hard to develop his bowling. "Because I've bowled a lot of overs this season, I believe my leg-breaks have really improved. Around 350 overs have been bowled by me. I put a lot of effort into improving my bowling so that I can contribute whenever my team needs me," he stated.
