     On Friday, March 10, at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand and Sri Lanka played in the 1st Test, day 2 match of the Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand, 2023. 

     During stumps on Day 2 of the first Test in Christchurch, New Zealand was reduced to 162/5 by Lahiru Kumara and Asitha Fernando, who each claimed two wickets. As Sri Lanka was knocked out for 355 runs, Tom Latham and Devon Conway gave the home team a strong start.  

     Prior to three quick dismissals tipping the balance in Sri Lanka's favour, Latham and Conway scored 67 runs together for the first wicket. Latham went out of the game after reaching 67 while Mitchell had reached 40. Sri Lanka was dismissed for 355 runs on Day 2 thanks to Tim Southee's five wicket haul.
