Gautam Gambhir Denies Rift with Virat Kohli, Emphasizes Competitive Spirit
When probed about their history of disagreements, Gambhir humorously commented that it was "good for the TRPs". He went on to stress that their relationship is strictly professional and intended to benefit the team. "It's between two mature individuals," he said. These past incidents will not influence their current rapport while representing their country.
On the matter of whether he has had any discussions with Kohli, he confirmed that they had compared notes. "I've had a lot of chats with him. We've shared messages. But right now, the most important thing is we both are going to be working extremely hard to make India proud," Gambhir stated.
He was also full of praise for Kohli's cricketer's prowess. Commenting on Kohli and Rohit Sharma's future in cricket, he said, "I can't say how much cricket is left in them. Ultimately it's up to them, how much can they contribute to the team's success. They're still world class players."
There have been various interpretations of his comments on workload management, with some suggesting he is advocating for players to participate in all matches. He clarified his stance, understanding the need to rest players like Jasprit Bumrah and other pacers. He, however, felt that players like Kohli and Rohit could play all formats, as they have exited from the T20 format.
