India vs West Indies, 3rd T20I: India won by 17 runs
After Suryakumar Yadav's ferocious fifty, Indian seamers blasted in tandem as the hosts cruised to a 17-run victory against the West Indies in the third and final T20I at Eden Gardens on Sunday, 20th February.
Following Deepak Chahar's hamstring injury, Harshal Patel (3/22), Venkatesh Iyer (2/23) and Shardul Thakur (2/33) did an excellent job defending India's 184/5. Nicholas Pooran, the wicket-keeper batsman, continued his outstanding run with a third straight fifty (61 off 47 balls; 8x4, 1x6), but it was not enough as West Indies were dismissed for 167/9.
It was Rohit's third consecutive clean sweep as full-time captain, following victories over New Zealand
(0-3) in T20Is and the West Indies (0-3) in ODIs. The victory also tied their 2020 record of nine consecutive victories.
This was the West Indies' third consecutive bilateral series loss away from home (they lost 0-2 to New Zealand in 2020-21 and 0-3 to Pakistan in 2021-22), capping a disappointing six-match losing streak in India (including three in the ODI leg).
