     On Thursday, February 16, at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand and England played in the 1st Test, day 1 match of the England tour of New Zealand, 2023.

     Harry Brook (89) and Ben Duckett (84) both played outstanding innings to help England reach a significant total before facing New Zealand on Day 1 of the first Test on Thursday, when they were at 325/9.  

     Together with them, Ollie Pope scored 42 runs and contributed to his team's victory over the hosts. Later, Ollie Robinson claimed one wicket while James Anderson took two to lead the bowling team. 

     At the conclusion of play, New Zealand had a score of 37/3, with Devon Conway (17) and Neil Wagner (4) remaining unbeaten. Tim Southee and Scott Kuggeleijn both claimed two wickets, but New Zealand's top spinner, Wagner, managed a four-wicket haul.
