India vs West Indies, 1st T20I: India won by 6 wickets
Suryakumar Yadav (34 off 18 balls) and Venkatesh Iyer (24 off 13 balls) led India to victory with more than an over to spare in the first T20I against West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Before losing his wicket to Roston Chase, Rohit Sharma (40) had given his team a flying start. With the wickets of Virat Kohli (17), Ishan Kishan (35) and Rishabh Pant (8), the West Indies pushed India back, but their total was too low to create a serious threat.
On his international debut, Ravi Bishnoi took the wickets of Roston Chase and Rovman Powell to finish with figures of 2/17 as India reduced West Indies to 157/7 in 20 overs. After Rohit Sharma elected to bowl after winning the toss, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave India the perfect start by scooping up a wicket in the first over. India's second wicket was taken by Yuzvendra Chahal.
Bishnoi caught Nicholas Pooran at the boundary, but stepped on the rope, allowing the southpaw to escape. Pooran took advantage of the situation and smashed a useful half-century. Captain Kieron Pollard struck several huge shots in the death overs to enable the Windies reach a total of more than 150 runs.
