Ronaldo Singh won a silver medal at the Asian Championship

About

Manipur is a football-crazed state where Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam is from. Contrary to his moniker, Ronaldo is not very passionate about the sport. Ronaldinho, a well-known Brazilian player, is where he got his name. Ronaldo tried his hand at high diving, gymnastics, and swimming before switching to cycling, which helped him overcome his phobia. When he was 14 years old, he began riding.

Cycling is Ronaldo's profession. Ronaldo achieved two victories at the Asian Track Cycling Championships (ATCC): a bronze in the team sprint and a silver with a new national record in the men's elite sprint. With a sprint time of 9.946 seconds in the quarterfinal, he set a new national record (first Indian to breach 10 sec mark).

India won its first medal ever in the senior division at the Asian Championships with the bronze. Ronaldo, Rojit Singh, and Esow Alban made history three years ago when they won India's first-ever gold medal in the junior world championships.

Asian Track Cycling Championships

The Asian Cycling Championship (Road & Track) includes the Asian Track Cycling Championships (ATCC), which are only open to Asian cyclists who have been chosen by their country's cycling federation and other member countries. The Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) uses it as its signature tournament, showcasing the intense competitiveness throughout Asia.

Overview

Ronaldo Singh from India has made his nation proud by competing in cycling. By taking silver in the sprint event at the Asian Cycling Championships in 2022, the cycling champion wrote history. With the victory, he also made history by being the first Indian cyclist to take home a silver medal at the Asian Track Championship, including in the Elite division. He earned two bronze medals at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Stadium earlier this week.
