Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022
The Tamil Nadu Premier League takes place in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is a premier T20 tournament. The inaugural edition of the TNPL was in 2016, and the tournament is now in its sixth season. 1xBAT became an official partner of the TNPL for the 2022 season, and beyond. Unfortunately, the 2020 edition of the TNPL tournament didn’t take place, similarly to most other sports events and activities worldwide, for apparent reasons.
Top players enhance the tournament's profile and visibility with the participation of current Indian players such as Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay, Washington Sundar, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who all featured in the TNPL regularly over the last few seasons. That serves to enhance the tournament's reputation and make it more attractive. In addition, players like Varun Chakravarthy made a name. They showcased their skills by playing in the TNPL league, subsequently moving on to the Indian Premier League and the Indian national team. Hence, many promising young players will try to impress scouts and grab their attention again when the sixth edition of the TNPL tournament commenced on the 23rd of June.
Teams
The Tamil Nadu Premier League features eight teams, each representing one of the eight districts in the state. The eight teams featured in the league over the years include the following.

- Lyca Kovai Kings
- Dindigul Dragons
- Ruby Trichy Warriors
- iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans
- Siechem Madurai Panthers
- Nellai Royal Kings (previously the VB Kanchi Veerans before relocating to Tirunelveli).
Chepauk Super Gillies managed to win the most titles with three to their name, in 2017, 2019, and 2021, proving to be the most successful team in the TNPL's history. Tuti Patriots and Siechem Madurai Panthers are joint runners-up with a title in 2016 and 2018, respectively. Unfortunately, the Patriots are currently defunct and no longer participate in the league.
Broadcasting TNPL
The Star Sports Network televises the TNPL matches live, most notably on the Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD channels, along with Star Sports 1 Tamil. Moreover, you can stream the TNPL games live on the Disney+Hotstar app. The afternoon matches commence at 3:30 PM IST, while the evening games are from 7:30 PM IST onwards.
