India Prepares for Upcoming T20I Series Against Bangladesh

Pacer Mayank Yadav who was a highlight in the Indian Premier League, has been selected for the India squad in the home series against Bangladesh in the upcoming T20I. Nitish Kumar Reddy, the all-rounder who also made an impact during the IPL 2024, is in the 15-member squad that does not include the Test regulars.

Mayank grabbed attention during his stint with Lucknow Super Giants in this year’s IPL with his speed. However, an injury led to an unsatisfactory comeback, after which he had to end his season prematurely after just four games. His comeback will be a significant boost for the Indian side that is looking to amp up its pace attack before the Australian tour.

Likewise, Nitish will be hoping to leave a mark. Initially chosen for the Zimbabwe tour earlier in the year after an impressive season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he had to back out due to an injury. Nitish made a comeback in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, showcasing his fitness and securing a spot in the national squad.

The selectors have left out several players, including Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and Khaleel Ahmed from the squad that was in Sri Lanka in July. Test regulars have been given a break with India due to play three home Tests next month, followed by the Australian tour.

Abhishek Sharma, who earlier scored a century in just his second T20I in Zimbabwe, reenters the squad. Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Jitesh Sharma have also been selected. As reported earlier by Cricbuzz, Sanju Samson has secured his spot in the squad ahead of Ishan Kishan, who recently returned to competitive cricket. The three-match series will commence on October 6 in Gwalior, followed by matches in New Delhi and Hyderabad.

The squad includes Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, JItesh Sharma (WK), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav.
