Wow, what a chase! When newbies showed an unexpected game! Again, what a chase! Gujarat Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in their first IPL encounter on Mondayб 28th March. Pacer Mohammed Shami bowled a blistering opening stint before Rahul Tewatia hit an unbeaten 40 to help Gujarat Titans win by five wickets.
Before Gujarat Titans Deepak Hooda (55 off 41 balls) and Ayush Badoni (54 off 41 balls) struck fifties to help their team register 158 for six, Shami (3/25) bowled a blazing opening spell to knock the wind out of the Super Giants' top order.
The Titans were then led over the line by skipper Hardik Pandya (33), all-rounder Tewatia (40 not out), Matthew Wade (30) and David Miller (30). Aside with Shami's three wickets, Varun Aaron (2/45) and Rashid Khan (1/27) also took two batters for the Titans. Super Giants' bowler of choice was Dushmantha Chameera (2/22).
