Match Review

     On Thursday, January 5, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, India and Sri Lanka played in the 2nd T20I match of the Sri Lanka tour of India, 2023.

     Despite their best efforts, Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel were unable to prevent Sri Lanka from defeating India by 16 runs in the second T20I in Pune. The three-match series is now tied at 1-1 thanks to this result.  

     India's chase for 207 got off to a terrible start as they lost the top order inside the powerplay overs. After the powerplay, Hardik Pandya was subsequently caught behind for 12 points. The situation was then stabilised by Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar before Hasaranga fired Hooda for nine. Before Suryakumar was removed for 51, he and Axar Patel had stitched together a stand of more than 90. (36). Axar was out in the last over for 65 (31). 

     Mendis hit a six against Umran Malik to reach the 50-ball mark in just 27 balls. Shanka finished the match unbeaten on 56 from 22 balls. In the first eight and a half overs of the game, the openers for Sri Lanka added 80 runs for the first wicket. Before Captain Shanaka took over, Sri Lanka continued to lose wickets shortly after his dismissal. He scored a fifty in 20 balls.
