Ahead of the T20 World Cup, an Australian great joins England's coaching staff

About

As a consultant for the ICC T20 World Cup, former Australian great Michael Hussey has joined England's white-ball coaching staff. The support team, led by head coach Matthew Mott, will receive professional assistance from Hussey. The England and Wales Cricket Board made the announcement in a release.

What they said

For the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in October and November, England Men's White-Ball Head Coach Matthew Mott has engaged the assistance of former England bowling coach David Saker and Chennai Super Kings batting coach and former Australian international Michael Hussey.

"Saker, who served as England Men's bowling coach from 2010 to 2015, will travel to Pakistan to play seven matches with the tourists before the World Cup.

The announcement said that Hussey, 47, "will join the England set-up for the World Cup. Hussey enjoyed a successful career as a middle-order batsman for Australia in all three forms."

Overview

In order to win their second T20 World Cup, England will aim high. Their lone victory came in 2010 under Paul Collingwood's direction. Jos Buttler will be doing his first ICC task since replacing Eoin Morgan as England's white-ball captain.

In the 2021 competition, England had advanced to the semifinal round before falling to New Zealand in the final four. They competed in the competition's championship game in 2016 and lost to West Indies.
