Aakash Chopra, a former opener for India wouldn't replace Shikhar Dhawan as the captain

Aakash Chopra, a former opener for India, stated that he wouldn't have replaced Shikhar Dhawan as captain for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

About

Aakash Chopra, a former opening batsman for India, stated that he wouldn't have replaced Shikhar Dhawan as captain for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, which starts on August 18. Rahul was not listed when the team for the series was first revealed, and Dhawan was selected captain.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated earlier this week, however, that Rahul had been found to be in good health and will join the team as captain, with Dhawan serving as his deputy.

What they said

Regarding Rahul taking over as captain in place of Dhawan, Chopra said, "If it was in my power, I would have averted that."

Although I am aware thhu 892qat Rahul is the vice-captain for the Asia Cup, the fact remains that there are currently 8–10 captains in the team. He (Rahul) was not originally named in the squad for the Zimbabwe series. The captaincy currently belongs to Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar, in my opinion. Virat Kohli was the previous captain; Rohit Sharma is the current one. In a video that was uploaded to his official YouTube account, Chopra remarked, "It wasn't significant; this might have been prevented."

"How does it matter that Shikhar Dhawan is an older man if he is the captain? Whether or not KL Rahul is the captain, he is still only allowed to bat. If Shikhar Dhawan had been named the captain, you could have continued and left it alone. Dhawan ought to have remained the captain, in my opinion," he added.

Overview

On August 18, 20, and 22, the three ODIs will be held at the Harare Sports Club.

KL Rahul will be able to participate in the forthcoming three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe after being approved to do so by the BCCI Medical Team. Shikhar Dhawan has been picked as the captain of the team by the All-India Senior Selection Committee, according to a statement released by the BCCI.
