Spotlight on IPL: A Decisive Series for Future Franchise Players
The upcoming T20I series between South Africa and India is considered by many not just an international cricket series but a dress rehearsal for the IPL auction set for November 24 and 25. Players from these countries are also part of the auction, making this period intense and crucial for prospective IPL players.
The series eclipses the fact that it brings together this year's T20 World cup finalists, shifting the focus from team performance to individual brilliance. The series also takes on significant financial importance for the CSA, which is set to generate about USD 8.6-million in revenue from broadcasting the four matches.
Cricket, often referred to as a team sport played by individuals, has added a new twist to this narrative. Between the two Fridays, it is all about 16 individual players striving for excellent personal performance to get noticed by IPL franchises.
