Sanju Samson Returns to Kerala for Second Round of Ranji Trophy
Following his brilliant 40-ball T20I century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, Sanju Samson is preparing to play for Kerala in the second round of the Ranji Trophy, which starts October 18. Samson's return to the Ranji Trophy will persist until his national duties require his attention once more.
Kerala will maintain its leadership structure, with Sachin Baby continuing as captain, following a first-round win against Punjab in Thumba. Kerala's next game will be an away fixture against Karnataka in Alur. Notably, Karnataka will play in the absence of Prasidh Krishna, currently on reserves duty with the India team playing against New Zealand.
In the past, Samson has played four Ranji Trophy games, securing 177 runs with an average score of 35.40 and a top score of 57. He also participated in two Duleep Trophy matches at the start of this domestic season, gaining scores of 106, 45, 5, and 40.
During the previous Ranji season, Baby stood out as the second-best run scorer overall, boasting an impressive total of 830 runs, an average of 83, and contributing four centuries and as many half-centuries.
Despite these impressive individual efforts, Kerala only managed a single victory out of seven games last season, suffering one loss and five draws. They finished fourth in Group B, losing out on a chance for a knockout berth.
