Dubai Set to Host Highlight Matches of the Women's T20 World Cup
Dubai is gearing up to host the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan at the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup. The match, scheduled for October 6, was announced as part of revised fixtures by the ICC. The city will also welcome the culmination of the 18-day tournament, with the grand final set for October 20.
A shift in hosting duties from Bangladesh to the UAE was necessitated due to the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh, which made hosting impossible. Alongside Dubai, Sharjah will also serve as one of the host cities. The crucial India versus Australia encounter, for instance, slated for October 13, will be held in Sharjah. To boot, the second semi-final on October 18 will also take place in Sharjah.
Despite the location change, the tournament's structure remains the same. The teams—six-time champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka—comprise Group A. Meanwhile, South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland make up Group B.
In the tournament format, each side will play four group matches and the top two teams from each will advance to the semifinals. The semifinals are scheduled to happen in Dubai on October 17 and 18. If India qualifies, they will play the first semifinal on October 17 in Dubai.
Final preparations for the much-awaited tournament include 10 warm-up matches to be held between September 28 and October 1.
