Bangladesh Makes History with Unprecedented Test Win Against Pakistan

The 26th birthday of Najmul Hossain Shanto was marked with a historic victory as he became the first Bangladesh captain to beat Pakistan in a Test match. This monumental win was clinched with a towering 10-wicket margin on the fifth afternoon in Rawalpindi.

As the day began, the pitch was showcasing more cracks and the ball was turning square. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan took full advantage of the conditions, bundling out Pakistan for a meager score of 146 - the lowest team total ever registered against Bangladesh. This left Bangladesh requiring only a chase of 30 runs.

Pakistan had begun the day on a shaky note, already on the backfoot with a considerable deficit of 94, a situation Mushfiqur's commendable 191 on Day 4 had played a crucial role in creating. The Bangladesh bowlers made sure that their teammates’ batting efforts were not in vain, and their aggression saw the Pakistan top-order crumble in the morning session.

Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique appeared to be building a potentially critical stand, but this was short-lived as Nahid Rana took out Babar for 22. The ensuing collapse was swift and dramatic, with the spin duo of Shakib and Mehidy accelerating Pakistan's downfall.

Mohammad Rizwan stepped up and attempted to salvage the situation, taking Pakistan past the 100-run mark and into a brief period of stability. Nevertheless, Shakib put a stop to his endeavors causing Pakistan's innings to nosedive again and fall to 105/6.

They quickly went eight down following Lunch, a dip in performance that was followed by a solo act from Rizwan who tried to battle it out but eventually fell victim to Mehidy. This marked the end of Pakistan's batting and signaled a commanding victory for Bangladesh and a momentous accomplishment for their new captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto.
