Miscalculated Shot: The Bangladesh Team's Misfired Tactics

Despite leading a defensive strategy throughout the match, Shanto picked the wrong moment, player, and shot to reveal his bold side. It was an ill-advised move given Bangladesh's compliant and defensive position throughout the Test, which ultimately proved counterproductive.

As the match progressed, another rare aggressive move emerged. With only four more runs to defend, Taijul Islam urged the boundary fielders to step up, enticing Virat Kohli to make a glory shot. Kohli, however, opted for a hard sweep instead. Despite his misstep, which resulted in a single, he maintained his position. On the following play, Yashasvi Jaiswal, hoping to end the match on his terms, took up the challenge. Unfortunately, he was caught off guard, resulting in an easy catch at the cover.

Even though all their fielders were within the inner ring, Bangladesh managed to push India towards an inevitable victory. Despite a strong start, they ended up needing 20 more pitches to secure the final nine runs. 

Their late-game aggression, however, was too little, too late. The initial assault by India had their fieldmen primarily on boundary duty throughout the length of the innings. In the first, India skipped the cozy singles for harder hits, while in the second, Kohli and Jaiswal capitalized significantly on those.

The washed-out sessions of the game needed both teams to turn aggressive for forcing a result. Bangladesh took to a more conservative game, heaping pressure on India, who, even on a sluggish pitch, managed to scalp nine wickets on the fourth day. Their intent was clear even with the bat, as they surpassed Bangladesh's first innings score at a record rate of 8.22 - the fastest ever in Test cricket. In the realm of ODIs, they've recorded higher speed only thrice in an innings where they played the full quota of 50 overs.
