Noah Lyles Claims Title of World's Fastest Man

Noah Lyles has claimed the title of "world's fastest man" and proved his assertion at the Stade de France on Sunday night. With an advanced personal time of 9.784-second, Lyles surpassed remarkable sprinters and earned his first Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter final. He gained the triumph by defeating Kishane Thompson, the Jamaican sprinter with the world's fastest time of the current year, by 0.005 of a second.

Lyles revealed that he anticipated Thompson to win, but somehow he felt the need to lean forward and did that to clinch the victory. It resulted in the tightest 100-meter final since the 1980 Moscow Olympics or maybe even beyond that. Lyles hit his top speed at the 65.15-meter mark, though initially, he was behind. The speed reached was approximately 27.1 mph, and he sustained this speed throughout the race.

Lyles' prediction of the tight space between the first and second position turned to be surprisingly accurate. For the first time since Justin Gatlin's win in 2004, an American has won this highly-acclaimed race. If Lyles achieves a position in the 200-meter finals on Wednesday night, he will have a chance to claim a second gold medal. Currently, Lyles, apart from his fresh gold, has a bronze medal in his collection, which he secured in the 200 at the Tokyo Games three years ago.

The final participants included the defending Olympic gold medalist, Marcell Jacobs of Italy, Thompson, and two of Lyles' teammates, Kenny Bednarek and Fred Kerley. Kerley succeeded in securing third place, earning bronze and finishing in 9.81 seconds. Bednarek secured the seventh position, with a time of 9.88 seconds.

Thompson's time in the final was just 0.02 of a second slower than his recorded time at the Jamaican trials earlier this summer, indicating he would end up on the podium in Paris. But, even after leading for most of the race, Lyles surpassed Thompson in the final 10 meters leading to a thrilling photo finish.
