Day 2 Highlights: Paris Olympics 2024 for Indian Athletes

Day two of the Paris Olympics 2024 offered an entertaining mix of victories and defeats for the Indian athletes. Most notably, Manu Bhaker claimed a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event. 


On the tennis front, while Bopanna-Balaji faced defeat against Monfils-Vasselin with a score of 7-5, 6-2, Sumit Nagal also lost a thrilling three-set match to Frenchman Corentin Moutet. In contrast, the day didn't go well for the Indian women's archery team, losing their quarterfinal against Netherlands with a 0-6 score.


In table tennis, Felix Lebrun bested Harmeet Desai 4-0 in the men's singles r-0-64; Manika Batra overcame Anna Hursey in the women's singles first round, whereas Sharath Kamal suffered a surprise loss against Slovenia's Deni Kozul in a men's singles round-of-64 match. Sreeja Akula began her women's singles event with a victory over Christina Kallberg of Sweden, scoring a 4-0 win [11-4, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8].


HS Prannoy had a successful badminton match against Fabian Roth, winning 21-18 21-12 in his first group match, and PV Sindhu triumphed 21-9, 21-6 over Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq of the Maldives.


Although Elavenil Valarivan's efforts in shooting narrowly missed coming to fruition, Arjun Babuta did qualify for the 10m air rifle men's final, and Ramita Jindal secured her position in the final of the women's 10m air rifle event by finishing fifth. 


Boxer Nikhat Zareen had a strong start, defeating Germany's Maxi Kloetzer in her opening match. Lastly, Balraj Panwar finished second in his repechage race in rowing, thus moving onto the quarterfinals.
