Match Review

On Saturday, April 1, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals played in the 3rd match of the Indian Premier League 2023.

Mark Wood, an Englishman, shredded the Delhi Capitals' batting order on Saturday as the Lucknow Super Giants opened their sophomore campaign with a commanding 50-run victory. In addition to David Warner, who led Delhi in scoring with 56 runs, Wood also removed Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel, and Chetan Sakariya to complete his five-wicket haul.

Before that, Kyle Mayers of the West Indies lit up Lucknow's night sky as the Super Giants amassed 193/6 against Delhi. No batter, with the exception of Mayers, had much luck with the pitch, but Nicholas Pooran (36 off 21) and Ayush Badoni (18 off 7) each contributed in some measure to LSG's intimidating total. Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya both claimed two wickets for Delhi.
