Rohit Sharma's frank admission about the possibility of winning the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home: "I don't know if I will be around."

About

In his first Border-Gavaskar Trophy as captain, Rohit Sharma led the Indian team to victory as the hosts defeated the visitors 2-1 over the course of the four-match series. While this was Rohit's first Border-Gavaskar Trophy home as skipper, the Hitman was asked about the next one, which will be held in a few years. In an open admission, Rohit said that neither he nor other seasoned players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja knew if they would be appearing in that series.

What they said

I'm not sure if I'll be there. Four years is a considerable amount of time. In all honesty, I hope they stay and play a lot of cricket for the benefit of Indian cricket. They both contributed for a long time to our team." At the news conference, Rohit said.

"A lot of credit goes to them for where we are now in terms of how well we operate in Indian conditions. Those two guys are largely responsible for our success. It has been going on for more than ten years, not just a few. The two of these guys have performed for us for a very, very long period," Rohit stated.

Overview

Speaking of Ashwin and Jadeja, Rohit was particularly complimentary of their performance for India, particularly under domestic circumstances.

Australia will host the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2025, while India will host the series in 2027.
