Match Review

     On Friday, December 2, at the Al Janoub Stadium, Ghana and Uruguay played in the 46th match of the FIFA World Cup, 2022. 

     Andre Ayew's soft penalty was easily saved by Sergio Rochet in the 21st minute, giving Uruguay a chance to take the lead. Ghana, who famously missed a penalty kick in extra time in a quarterfinal match against Uruguay in South Africa 12 years ago, missed the opportunity to take the lead. 

     In the 26th minute, De Arrascaeta headed the ball over the line from close range following a shot by Luis Suarez, and six minutes later, Suarez again participated in the buildup as Uruguay scored their first goals of the tournament.

     The result moved Uruguay into third place with four points, level with South Korea, who made it through the tournament with more goals scored after scoring a late winner in a 2-1 victory over Portugal. With three points, Ghana came in last place in the group.
