Match Review

On Saturday, November 5, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, England and Sri Lanka played in the 39th match of the Super 12, T20 World Cup, 2022.

Ben Stokes, the batter, ultimately led England to victory. After Alex Hales gave them a quick lead, it appeared as though the 142-run chase would be a breeze for them. England scored 75 runs in just 44 balls thanks to Hales and captain Jos Buttler, but they lost their stride in the middle overs and were reduced to 129/6 at the end of the 18th over.

Chris Woakes' four in the final over helped England over the finish line as Stokes subsequently finished off the remaining runs. As a result of England's advancement to the semifinals, the tournament's hosts and defending winners Australia have also been eliminated.
